The team is led by Ian Bellamy. Having obtained an Honours degree in Microbiology with microbial genetics, Ian then read Dentistry, qualifying in 1991. He has subsequently worked in a number of practices before taking over the Aquae Sulis Dental Practice in 1998.
Ian is a general dental practitioner with a special interest in advanced techniques, including dental implants and cosmetic dentistry. He is heavily involved in continuing professional development studying in Europe and the USA, including at the world-renowned Branemark Clinic in Gothenburg. He is involved in the Implant Diploma course run through the Royal College of Surgeons in London. He is also involved in teaching and mentoring other dentists in the subject of implantology.
The practice receives referrals form a large number of practitioners in the South West. He is a member of the Association of Dental Implantology and the British Dental Association.
Janet Singleton BDS(Hons), DPDS qualified from Guys Dental School in 1983 working first in oral surgery and then in general practice. She has developed her skills to provide the best possible care for her patients especially those who are anxious about dental treatment. She recently completed a Diploma in Postgraduate Dental Studies from the University of Bristol in dental anxiety, sedation techniques, endodontics, aesthetic restorations and prosthetics which has enhanced her skills.
Our Hygienist is Alison Chapman EDH FAETC RDN. She qualified as a civilian with the Navy at HMS Nelson, Portsmouth in 1982 and has worked in hospital, the NHS and private practice. She has passed all extended duty courses for hygienists including the ability to take radiographs. Specialising in Oral Health Education, she passed her Adult Teaching Certificate in 1999 and runs her own school for dental nurses. Alison was runner-up for Hygienist of the Year in 2001.

Our practice nurses are Lisa Porch, Rachel Morgan and Jo McKenna. Lisa initially trained with Bath Orthodontics, spending some time at Aquae Sulis as part of that. She then worked in the challenging environment of Avon Primary Care Dental Service treating mainly dental emergencies in compromised patients. Lisa has an additional dental radiography qualification. Rachel qualified in 1993 and has since gone on to be senior dental nurse in the community dental service for South Devon Healthcare Trust. She has also been a special constable and has recently returned from living in the USA where her husband’s work took them. Jo qualified from Guys in 1990 and has worked in various practices in the area since. She also has experience in holistic therapy and reflexology.
Our practice receptionists are Amanda Dagger and Pat Hawes. Amanda has been a dental receptionist for over twenty years, having been with the practice since 1982. Not only is she responsible for reception but is also involved in the administration of the practice. In addition to these skills she has a wide knowledge of dentistry, having attended implant training courses and dental assisting when required. Pat is our newest addition having joined us with a background in the leisure industry and customer services.
All members of the team are dedicated to the provision of excellent dentistry. With such experience they are well qualified to assist and give advice on all aspects of dentistry to our patients.
